Honest Maintenance Estimates for Your Vessel

Tell us what your boat needs. We reply with a written estimate that names who would do the work, what is included and what it costs, before you decide anything.

Work You Can Ask About

We collect the details of your boat and the job and come back with an estimate. Technical work is done by qualified technicians or a yard, and the estimate names them. We publish no hourly rate or price list here: a figure printed on a web page cannot know what is wrong with your engine.

●Hull Cleaning & Inspection

Removal of weed and marine growth from the hull and a look at the underwater surfaces for blisters, damaged antifouling and worn anodes. Say whether the boat can be lifted, because a diver clean and a yard clean are different jobs with different costs.

◆Engine Servicing

Routine servicing such as oil, filters, impellers and belts, or help with a fault you have noticed. Give us the engine make and model, the hours if you know them, and what the engine has been doing.

◊Electrical Checks

Batteries, charging, wiring, navigation lights and instruments. Electrical faults are best described in your own words, including when they appear and what else was running.

■Interior Cleaning & Care

Cabin cleaning, upholstery care and mould treatment after a damp season. We tell you what the work includes and what it does not, for example repairs to fittings.

▶Haul-Out, Storage & Winter Lay-Up

Lifting the boat out, supporting it ashore and preparing it for a quiet season. Where lifting and storage exist, we name who lifts the boat, how it is supported and what preparation you are asked to do first.

⬤Pre-Purchase Checks

If you are buying a used boat, we can pass your request to an independent marine surveyor, who inspects the boat and reports to you. We do not give a survey ourselves, and a quick look is not a substitute for one.

Storage Ashore: What to Ask

Whether you need space during a repair or for the whole cold season, there are three common ways to keep a boat. Which of them exists at the location we offer is stated in the quote, not assumed here.

Open Storage Ashore

The boat stands on a cradle or trailer in the open. Ask how it is supported, how it is covered and who looks at it while you are away.

  • Support: cradle, stands or trailer
  • Cover: your own or arranged
  • Access: by arrangement
Quoted individually

Covered Storage

A roof, or part of a roof, over the boat. This takes the worst of rain and sun off the deck. Ask how much of the boat is actually covered.

  • Roof cover: full or partial
  • Boat size limits: stated in the quote
  • Moving the boat: who does it
Quoted individually

Indoor Storage

A closed building. Some stores are heated or ventilated and some are not, so ask what the building actually provides before you assume it.

  • Building: enclosed hall or shed
  • Conditions inside: stated, not assumed
  • Access: by arrangement
Quoted individually

How a Maintenance Job Runs

The photograph is illustrative. Whatever yard does your job, the sequence we follow with you is the same.

  • You describe the problem or the work you want
  • We reply with a written estimate naming the technician or yard
  • You approve it in writing, or you do not
  • Extra work found on the day is described and priced before it starts
  • You receive a short written note of what was done

Work is carried out to the manufacturer's specification where one exists. Parts, third-party yard charges and lifting fees are listed separately in the estimate.
