Terms of Use
Last updated: 27 October 2026
These terms apply to your use of wildstarharbor.com and to enquiries you send to Wild Star Harbor through it. They are written to be read, so please do. By using the website or sending an enquiry you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the enquiry forms.
1. Who we are and what this website is
Wild Star Harbor is an enquiry desk for boat owners and visitors in Oita, Japan. Our address is 2-23-4 Toyomachi, Oita, Oita 870-0042, Japan. The website describes four kinds of enquiry we take: berth and mooring arrangements, harbor visits, water-sports activities and boat maintenance estimates.
The website is informational. It has no booking engine, no online payment and no live availability. Nothing on it, including photographs, descriptions of arrangements or lists of questions, is an offer that you can accept by clicking. Photographs are illustrative and do not show our own berths, buildings or staff unless a caption says so.
2. How an arrangement is made
- You send an enquiry, using a form or by email or phone.
- We reply in writing with what can be arranged, the conditions and the charges for your case.
- An arrangement exists only when you have confirmed the terms in writing and we have confirmed them back. Until both have happened, nothing is reserved, held or promised.
A quote states how long it stands, and may be withdrawn or changed before you confirm it, for instance if a berth is no longer free. We do not publish prices or availability, and any figure you see elsewhere that refers to us is not ours.
3. Charges and payment
Charges, the payment method, the due date and any deposit are set out in each written quote. We state prices tax-inclusive (税込) unless the quote says otherwise. Third-party charges, such as a yard's lifting fee or an operator's fee, are shown separately. We do not take payment through this website. Further information required by law is in our notice under the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions.
4. Changes and cancellation
The cancellation and change terms for an arrangement are those in its written confirmation. Where a third-party harbor, yard or operator is involved, their terms apply as well, and we show them to you before you confirm. Tell us about a change or a cancellation as early as you can, in writing.
5. Weather and safety
Water, wind and weather decide what can be done safely. A water activity, a visit to a pier or a boat movement may be postponed or cancelled because of wind, swell, poor visibility, lightning, a typhoon warning or any other safety concern. The decision is made on the day by the person responsible, and we ask you to respect it. What happens to your payment in that case is stated in your written confirmation.
You are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of the people in your care. Follow instructions from the operator, wear a life jacket when asked, and do not take part in an activity after drinking alcohol or when unwell. In an emergency on the water in Japan, call 118 (Japan Coast Guard); for an ambulance or fire, call 119. We do not provide rescue or medical services.
6. Licences, qualifications and operators
Some activities and services in Japan may be carried out only by registered or qualified parties, for example fishing trips for paying guests, passenger carriage, rental craft, instruction, diving and certain repairs. This website does not state that Wild Star Harbor holds any licence or registration. Where an arrangement needs one, we identify the party that carries it before you confirm anything, and you may ask to see their details.
7. Your responsibilities
- Give accurate information about yourself and your boat, including its dimensions, condition and insurance.
- Keep your own insurance in place for your boat, your crew and yourself. A mooring or storage arrangement does not replace it.
- Follow the rules of the harbor, yard or operator concerned, and local laws on boating, waste and the environment.
- Do not send us unlawful material or information about other people without their consent.
8. Information on this website
We take care that the website is accurate, but descriptions are general. They are not technical advice, a survey, a legal opinion or a promise about any particular berth, yard or activity. Details that matter to you should be confirmed in our written reply. Links to other websites, such as Google Maps, are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for what they contain.
9. Limits on our liability
We do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for our own intent or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury caused by our fault. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss that arises from the weather, tides, third-party operators or other vessels, or from a failure of the internet, email or the formsubmit.co relay to deliver a message. We do not guarantee that a boat on a berth or in storage will not be damaged, and we do not insure it.
10. Intellectual property
The text and layout of this website belong to Wild Star Harbor. You may read and print pages for your own use. You may not copy them for another website or commercial use without our permission. Photographs are illustrative and are used on the same terms.
11. Changes to the website and these terms
We may change or withdraw parts of the website and update these terms. The version on this page, with the date at the top, applies from the date shown. A change does not affect an arrangement you have already confirmed in writing.
12. Governing law and courts
These terms and any dispute connected with the website or an enquiry are governed by the laws of Japan. The Oita District Court has non-exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance, to the extent the law allows. Mandatory consumer protection rules that apply to you remain unaffected.
